Engagements
Several times a year since 2006 (and more frequently lately), we’ve had some gentleman pop the question from the top of our Lighthouse. To date, all responses have been YES! Our most recent couples continue the tradition.
Engagements for 2016 got off to an early start with the first proposal happening on a very cool and crisp February day and the final proposal for 2016 happening on New Years Eve. We look forward to having many more couples share their special day in 2017 at the “top of the lighthouse”!
We would like to wish the happy couples a long and fulfilling life with many climbs to the top of our lighthouse in their future! (Click on any picture to enlarge)

Brenton G. & Matt W. (December, 2016)
What better way to end the year than with a top of the lighthouse proposal! On a cool but beautiful New Years Eve, Matt W. and Brenton G. made the 131 step climb to the top of the lighthouse where Matt proposed. It was a TOTAL surprise for Brenton as you can tell by the photos! What made this event even more special, is the local connection that Matt has – with one of his close relatives living right here in Caswell Beach.
Just a quick update……..we hear they have set the date for the BIG event and it will take place in September of this year – CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!

We witnessed a very “local” engagement in August with Nathan S. who works at the NC Baptist Assembly 1/4 mile down the road asking his long time sweetheart Emily C. to be his bride.

The first new couple of 2016 to become engaged at the top of our lighthouse enjoyed a clear but cold day in early February.
Laura and Justin were married in May and shared a few photos of their wedding cake – an Oak Island Lighthouse replica!!!!! We are honored to be part of their ceremony.

Taylor H. & Taylor M. (Sept 2015)
Yet another engagement this year at the top of our lighthouse and another first. The first names of both our latest couple are the same and even spelled the same! So Taylor proposed to Taylor and Taylor said YES which made Taylor and his family VERY happy……..did you follow that? It was a beautiful early September morning and we were glad the family let us be part of their special day.
Taylor and Taylor are now OFFICIALY Mr. & Mrs. on September 9,2016 they stopped by to climb the lighthouse again and the very next day were married on the beach. They have shared a few photos from this years climb and their wedding!

August was another month where we were able to host an engagement for a young couple at the top! Tasha & Nash made the climb and Nash surprised her with “The Question” and a ring.
On behalf of Nash and I, we just wanted to thank you for making the proposal day one we will never forget. Thank you for all your special planning and ensuring that everything would go smoothly. We hear from many of our visitors that the lighthouse has been part of their family vacation history while they were growing up. Time after time we hear visitors comment on how their family has been vacationing in our area for “as long as they can remember”. One such group returned this year for a special occasion.
“Thank you all for a wonderful tour today at the lighthouse!! Special thanks to Dennis who helped my boyfriend set up the surprise proposal and even took some pictures for us to remember the occasion!! It was so memorable – I love the lighthouse and have toured it each year when my family comes down for vacation, and now it has added significance as the place where we got engaged.

On a cool but clear February day at the top of the Lighthouse Alex asked Brooke to be his partner in life….and the answer was a resounding YES.
It was fantastic to visit for such a wonderful occasion but we will have to visit again when it’s warmer! -Alex

Not to be outdone by Alex and Brooke, Mike and Tracy became our second couple in 2015 to be engaged with Mike popping the question in early March while on the outside balcony and Tracy said YES!

My future son-in-law proposed to my daughter at Oak Island Lighthouse on July 13, 2014 and she said Yes.
Justin L and Kim C from Greenville, NC were engaged at Oak Island Lighthouse on July 13, 2014 and will be married on November 7, 2015. The proposal site was chosen by Justin because of Kim’s love of lighthouses.
